Beulah Grace Eastman was born on Friday, June 26th, 1925 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. On Thursday, November 12th, 2015 Beulah passed away peacefully and without pain in Langley, British Columbia, Canada at the age of 90.

Beulah Eastman -- or Bea as she was known to her friends -- was so many things to so many people. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother to an extended family. In her lifetime, she married twice and raised two wonderful families. Bea Eastman was born in Toronto “Grace Buela Stoneman” and, yes, she did notice that her birth was registered with a spelling mistake. This was upsetting to her because Beulah was her strong preference for a given name. To my knowledge, no one ever referred to her as Grace. In Ontario, Beulah Stoneman spent most of her time living north of Toronto, in Orangeville.

During World War II, Bea worked in a war-time factory in the Toronto area. Shortly before he shipped out, Bea met Clarence Edwin Leaf; an Army officer of the Sherbrooke Fusiliers. After years of war-time correspondence, and the end of World War II, Clarence Edwin Leaf returned to Canada. They were married in Richmond, British Columbia on November 25th, 1946 at the South Arm United Church. Grace Buela Stoneman, as she was legally known, had now become Grace Buela Leaf. Still not a fan of government rules, she immediately started using Beulah Grace Leaf. They had three children together; Ronni Leaf, Darlene Leaf, and Peter Leaf. Although they later divorced, Bea remained in Steveston. It was at Nelson Brothers Fishery that Bea would meet Donald Benjamin Eastman. Donald Eastman was a Navy man who had retired from Canada’s Armed Forces. After service, Donald Eastman managed the cannery in Steveston until his retirement. Beulah Grace Leaf married Donald Benjamin Eastman on July 21st, 1984 at their home on Moncton Street in Richmond to become Beulah Grace Eastman. Donald Eastman had an extended family of his own when they married. Bea and Donald Eastman spent their retirement years entertaining an extended family and a large group of friends in the casual Hawaiian Luau style that they liked. They were Snow Birds and spent winters in the south with their RV. A long time resident of the fishing community of Steveston, British Columbia, she also lived nearly 20 years in the South Surrey/White Rock area of British Columbia.

Mrs. Beulah Grace Eastman was loved by many and will be dearly missed. There will be a Memorial Service at Valley View Chapel in Surrey, British Columbia on Saturday, January 9th, 2016 at 2:00 PM.
