Norma Bilugan Urrutia
May 30, 1942 – December 13, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Bilugan Urrutia, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, on the early morning of December 13, 2015 in New Westminster, British Columbia at the age of 73 years old.

Norma was born on May 30, 1942 in Daet, Camarines, Norte, Philippines. Predeceased by her parents Esteban and Lorenza Bilugan, Norma will always be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, Mario Gamboa Urrutia; as well as her daughters Celia (with her husband Vener) and daughter Juliet (with her husband Jim). Norma will also be tenderly remembered by her four grand daughters: Tayler, Kyra, Devyn and Jaidyn.

The second eldest of eight, Norma will be dearly missed by her sisters and brothers, and their families; Lilia (Angelo – deceased) Jimenez Jr.; Librada (deceased) (Renato - deceased) Domingo; Ricardo (Tessie) Bilugan; Gloria (Emil - deceased) Albano; Lamberto (deceased); (Aresenia) Bilugan; Elizabeth (Danilo) Trias; Wilfredo Bilugan; as well as many other family members and friends.

Norma immigrated to Canada in 1972 along with her husband Mario and first daughter, Celia. At that time, Norma was pregnant with her second daughter, Juliet, where they all settled as a family in Winnipeg, Manitoba in the hopes of a promising start as Canadian citizens. She, along with her husband, then retired to beautiful British Columbia.

Norma touched the lives of everyone as a kind and loving woman, who quietly lived a life filled with travel, Hawaii being one of her most favorite destination spots. She enjoyed spending time with her four grand daughters, and taught them many talents such as baking and cross-stitching. Norma, a selfless woman, gave such unconditional love to her family, which we all treasured every single day.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Royal Columbian Hospital – Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU), for the gentle care given to our mother.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 6pm to 10pm at Valley View Funeral Home – 14660 72nd Avenue, Surrey, B.C.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015, 11:30am at Saint Bernadette Parish – 6543 132nd Street, Surrey, B.C followed by the Interment at the Gardens of Gethsemani – 15800 32nd Street, Surrey, B.C.
